Massive dump of bugs
« on: May 10, 2018, 07:41:26 AM »
I decided to return for a bit of nostalgia and have spent quite a lot of the past few days playing. At this point, I've managed to find enough of these to warrant coming back to the forums too.

The recent changelogs say that you can use statted items in crafting to keep the stats, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I just upgraded a leather armor I found with +15 carry weight into leather armor mk2, and it no longer has the stat. I haven't tested it with weapons yet but will update if there are some inconsistencies.

Not sure if this is intended, but lots of recipes seem to be missing. Tons of weapons I remember from the previous versions, multiple ammo types (namely 7.62 and needler ammo), and even some armors seem to be missing. I already have the second profession in all of these so things should be showing up more. Meanwhile, drug recipes are showing up for me even though I don't have the doctor profession yet. These might be restricted to blueprints, I'm not sure if this game has them, but I have not yet seen any between quite a few opened footlockers at currently 102 speculation. You get a recipe for .303 ammo from the small guns profession, but none of the weapons you get from either level of that profession actually use it.

Crates on cave, canyon, etc maps tend to spawn inside the scenery where it is unreachable.

Melee, mainly spears, tends to cause massive problems in TB combat. Enemies wielding them will often start running away and then eventually stand still somewhere, constantly looping dialogue and standing still for the full 30 seconds. I can't really find a pattern with it: it seems to primarily happen to spear-wielding enemies (raiders), but I have seen it happen to combat knife/spiked knuckle wielding highwaymen as well. It SEEMS to happen against tougher enemies (like centaurs, or the player character in heavy armor) but I saw a follower of the apocalypse get stuck like this running away from a dog.

Bald leather armor mercenaries in caves sometimes spawn with weapons they can't wield (like rippers) and end up running at you with their fists.

Wastelanders seem to be rather buggy. Upon entering a new map, they will often take a good 10-15 seconds to start following the player. Sometimes they will sort of stutter step towards you instead of normal walking, mostly after combat ends. Often in caves they will just get stuck somewhere and stop moving (they are not actually stuck anywhere, but they will not return until you either leave the encounter or find them and use the regroup command). They seem incapable of equipping melee weapons when told to arm themselves, even melee-focused ones. In combat, they will spend a turn equipping a melee weapon if you never told them to arm themselves. The weapon they pull out seems random though, they might use an old shovel/wrench when they have a combat knife or loaded ripper in their inventory. They do not gain any weapon stats upon leveling, though I am not sure if that was ever a thing. Respawns seem a bit dodgy; a few of mine have died and respawned, but one of them didn't once and my PP fell down to 0. She was melted into a goo pile in a caravan encounter if that helps with anything. Obviously, I did tell her to meet up at the tent camp before she died. I have not yet seen a melee oriented one with more than 52 close combat skill, while the gun wielders always have around 150.

FN FAL HPFA only requires some HQ alloys and junk to craft. I assume it is intended to actually need a regular FN FAL on top of that, since it is much easier to make than the base variant.

The Wakizashi Blade can sometimes get a critical failure message that says it lost the rest of its ammo. This doesn't seem to actually do anything though.

Again, not sure if this is intended for either future updates or to keep things consistent, but helmets sometimes spawn with effects like fire/explosion resistance/threshold that (afaik) are completely useless since no aimed shots with those damage types can be done.

This could be linked to the server time, but it is basically impossible to gain access to the gun runners compound. It seems like there is a cooldown of around 8 real hours between being able to take new package delivery quests, which is enough for your reputation to start deteriorating back down pretty far.

Crit chances might be a bit borked. I am currently running a fast shot build with 1 luck (1 crit chance on my character sheet) but am getting what feels closer to 10% crits than 1%. I do not have any traits that increase it, nor do I use weapons with boosted crit chance.

Caravan leader drops his plasma rifle and ammo but not his combat armor. I don't know if this is a bug or intended for balance since he does not fight back when attacked and could therefore be an easy farm (again, assuming that is intended and not a bug by itself). It might also be intended for balance, but he seems ridiculously tanky. A 1hex burst from an assault rifle with armor piercing rounds and 170 SG only does around 30 damage per burst to him.

MANY merchants across the world have nothing at all. Some of them, like Jacob in the hub, do not even let you trade with them. Their dialogue option for viewing their wares leads to text saying that you can not trade with this person.

The ticket you spawn with that claims to be an easy way out doesn't actually do anything. I've tried it a few times in different places and under different circumstances but it has never actually done anything yet.

You gain no xp for lockpicking the locked containers placed around many of the cities. They never actually have anything inside them either, so I'm not sure what exactly their point is.

The VSS description does not accurately portray it. I can't quote it for sure since my last one was destroyed by a crit failure and they are pretty hard to make, but I remember it being called a silenced armor-piercing sniper rifle. There is no armor piercing 9mm variant and the weapon itself only has the scoped sight perk, no penetration or anything of the sort. I can't speak on the silenced part since I do not have a stealth character. However, having a 5-shot burst mode seems rather odd for a sniper rifle.

Sorry that this is so long, but I don't really think it would benefit anybody to make an individual thread for each of these. Since there are so many I will just continue updating here as I find more until you see this.

This is great, much easier to keep track of.

Crafting is getting yet another overhaul and new stuff should be coming consistently in waves. Merchants are also being revamped. The crit chance may be bad luck but we'll have to check. The rest of this is mostly legit bugs and we'll look into them.

Keep up the good work.

Update on spears, this happens in RT as well. Just had a highwayman with a spear run from a caravan run into a corner until she got melted by the leader

The 10mm SMG's damage is listed as 12-5 instead of 5-12. This also feels pretty weak considering how much better the 10mm pistol is, and how much even 9mm smgs do.

Not sure if this is intentional, but bleed damage does not kill. It downs enemies into negative HP, even things like a mantis that normally die once they reach 0 hp

A bit of stuff with New Reno:

The slags start yelling at you to get away from the footlocker they are "guarding" if you try to use it. It seems a bit redundant since they chase after you within about 20 seconds regardless of whether or not you try to use it.

Miss Kitty has a dialogue option of saying that you are interested in some 1/2ction

The staircase in the casino leading up to Mordino's area puts you inside a toilet instead of near the stairs

There is a METRIC ASS-TON of rocks, combat shotguns, .223 pistols, and knives on the ground in the Den. I would assume this is from the raiders attacking a city event, in which case this would probably be the same in other places. Not really sure if this is a problem, but just being able to walk into a town and snag up 30 .223 pistols is probably a bit op. Especially when the server count is so low at the moment that there isn't any risk to it

Participating in the killing raiders event lowers your reputation with a city. I ended up getting to -900 with den just by shooting some of the raiders until the rest of the city attacked me. The raiders also give no XP

Klamath seems to have a lot of wall tiles overlapping scenery. Here's what I mean: https://gyazo.com/4376db651473da852097999ac2d8b3c8

I noticed in an earlier changelog that unprotected cities now have loot to make it more interesting, but some of them seem like they are taken straight from F2 and I'm not sure if that is intended. For example, Vic's radio (a unique item, not just a regular radio) is in his shack in Klamath, and a magic 8 ball was in Mr. Bishop's pool table.

I just randomly got attacked by guards in the NCR for no reason. I can't really help much other than by saying that I got drunk and took a companion right before this. I got him straight away so I never told him to attack everybody or anything like that. It was pretty delayed, so I don't think he was bugged into automatically attacking anybody else since that would have happened before. I'm not villified by any group present there so it wasn't rep related. I checked my log and I didn't accidentally attack anybody. I can't really imagine this being anything other than a random mix up, unless there is maybe some new mechanic involving alcohol that could have caused it, but that seems like a stretch. I spent some time running around after I came back, and nobody attacked me.

Not sure if this is a bug, but I'm confused about the level cap. One part of the changelog says that after 30, your HP and SP benefits are cut in half. I just reached 25 and didn't get any skill points or HP at all though.

It's currently 24

And thanks for good feedback and bug reports :)

Just to make sure, since all the crafting stuff is still being reworked, there are no big guns/energy workbenches yet, right? Wanted to make the m1918 and some other stuff to try them out and checked around the whole map but couldn't find any of those special benches

Cactus in north side of BH doesn't seem to have a sprite. This does not happen with any other cacti in cities/random encounters

Rot gut recipe seems to be incorrect (or the still consumption, either one). Craft tables says 5 fruit and 1 wood per rot gut, a still actually only uses 3 fruit per wood

Professions seem a bit bugged. I heard third professions are available here so I made another character to try those out. At 150 repair, none of the people I remember providing it (Elridge, Zaius, Jacob) have any speech options to bring up about the third BG profession. Rondo in NCR has an option to ask for the third armorer profession, but the even at 150 repair (the cap here, it would be 151 if it wasn't) the only option is that the character is unsure of what to ask.

EDIT: Same thing with Skeeter about SG3, it only says that max repair isn't enough

Noted. Gonna fix this tomorrow.

There is now 4 levels on most of the professions. http://fonline.wiki.hadelmia.com/index.php?title=Professions

Need to raise Repair skill cap to 200, and it will work.
